Search Engines are still a great source for FREE website traffic. Let's not confuse this with PAID search engine advertising or keyword sponsoring. FREE search engine links often appear on the left-hand side, 10 per page, in most search engine result pages. PAID traffic is often on the right-side or even the first 3 results at the top which have a different color background.

Unfortunately, search engine optimization is quickly becoming a marketing scam.  Companies guarantees your website will appear on the first first page for several $100's of dollars monthly. They simply bid high enough per keyword to be SHOWN (not clicked) for the specified amount of times.
